    Who is Liz Chelak?

Liz Chelak is the founder of Evolve Therapy & Counseling. She is a licensed clinical psychotherapist and a certified clinical trauma specialist. After working with clients who had a history of trauma for several years, she noticed that simply discussing their trauma did not lead to healing. Instead, it often kept them stuck in their stories. Retelling their experiences over and over again did little to change how they felt or how they progressed in their lives.

In response to this, she developed the Sovereign Body Method. This method emerged from her desire to help clients achieve meaningful change, not only to move forward from their pasts, but to assist clients in feeling grounded, secure, and confident in all areas of their lives. The Sovereign Body Method also reflects the personal work Liz did on herself to heal from her own past, which ultimately shaped her into the woman she is today and the life she leads. It is the method that helped her transition from despair to living a life of freedom.

    Clinical Perspective

Liz sets Evolve Therapy & Counseling apart from other practices by shifting the focus of therapy. Instead of having clients repeatedly recount their stories for validation or answering random questions without understanding their purpose, Liz creates an environment where clients can genuinely get to know themselves. She encourages them to explore their feelings and beliefs rather than conforming to what others say is right.

Liz has extensive experience working with individuals who are struggling with:

    Clinically Trained Professional

Liz is a licensed clinical social worker with advanced training in trauma-informed care and nervous system therapy. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) (EMDR) through EMDR Connect. Additionally, she holds the designation of Certified Recovery Peer Specialist, accredited by the Florida Certification Board.

Evolve Therapy & Counseling employs an approach that integrates evidence-based modalities, such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic therapies within the Sovereign Body Method. This structured framework focuses on helping clients connect with themselves to lead more fulfilling lives.

Liz is currently offering limited EMDR intensives for clients who are ready for Phase 3 work, when clinically appropriate.

    Creative Expression

Outside of her clinical work, Liz is deeply engaged in creative expression, including dance and other forms of visual art. This informes the methogology of Evolve- integrating structure with intuition.

Liz's own life experiences including overcoming PTSD and using expression for her own healing inspires the type of therapy you receive at Evolve.

    An Empowering and Relatable Approach

Liz's approach to therapy is focused on empowering clients to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. She believes in helping clients find their own answers and path by providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment where they can connect to, explore and discover all parts of themselves.

Through this process, clients are able to:

    • Identify the areas of their lives that they love and those that need improvement
    • Develop the tools and resources they need to make better decisions for themselves and create the life they want
    • Set and achieve goals
    • Develop coping skills
    • Improve relationships

Throughout your entire journey, your therapist will work with you to develop a personalized plan for success.
